The Research Department of Nanfang Hospital is responsible for managing the hospital's scientific and technological development projects, research plans, and programme organization and implementation, cooperation and exchange, as well as scientific and technological output, academic achievement transform. The department is responsible for coordinating the overall planning of hospital scientific and technological resources, integrating technological resources, organizing scientific and technological breakthroughs, collecting scientific and technological data, and supporting important domestic and international academic conferences.
Platform Highlights. Nanfang hospital has two national scientific research platforms: the State Key Laboratory of "Organ failure Prevention and Treatment" and the National Clinical Research Center for Chronic Kidney Disease��6 provincial key laboratories and 10 other provincial R&D platforms and engineering centers.
Talent Strength. Nanfang hospital has a talent team with reasonable structure, excellent quality, united cooperation, leading by group of experts including academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, chief scientist of the National Key research and development Program, winner of the National Outstanding Youth Fund, and national Changjiang Special Professor. Also, many of national famous experts and professors are holding positions in important international and domestic academic organizations, fully demonstrating the academic status and influence of the hospital.
Projects Development. Last decade, more than 2400 scientific research projects at all levels have been approved, which fund with 1.3 billion yuan. There are 881 programme sponsored by the National Natural Research Foundation of China, 46 projects funded by the National Key Science and Technology Special projects and key research and development projects (projects).The amount of fund ranks in the front position among medical institutions in China.
Research Achievement. During last decade, Nanfang hospital has published more than 4400 academic papers in SCI, many of which were published in NEJM, JAMA, CELL, and other authorized international journals. More than 1400 patents of scientific research achievements were authorized. All kinds of achievements have won 10 of the second prizes of National Science and Technology Progress Awards,and 146 of the Science and Technology Awards of Guangdong Province (including 27 of the first prizes).
